Why-When they say miles of warm waist deep water, it is no lie. This is were I learned how to kiteboard…since then I have yet to find warmer waters and better wind to kite in. There looks to be some great events and competitions here, also some great clinics for beginners and kite demos. Take a look at there schedule it is pretty amazing.

Now that winter is moving in, there is only one thing to think about……Florida Keys! Florida can be a frustrating spot to live in the summer time, you will find some of the most windless places in America there. The only time you do get wind, is when a hurricane is rolling in and its not safe to go out. But come December until June You will have many days of wind, sunshine and beatiful water to ride.
Islamorada and Key West are the places to be in the winter time. You will find gorgeous clear, knee deep miles and miles of warm water. One thing to be sure of though, is that you need a boat, or friends with a boat. There really is no public beaches in the keys. So this is the time to make friends with a boat if you haven’t one of your own. You can also hook up with the Kitehouse down In Key West and they will bring you out.

Hood River will again be hosting the largest windsport fundraiser Kiteboard 4 Cancer on Aug. 8th-10th. Kiter will race in 6-hour Kite Derby Endurance race, making money for for cancer organizations. The word this year is it will be more then just the gear you carry, you will need some kite strategy as well.There will be a 3-mile course with a huge jumping section right in front of the crowd. Primary sponsor is the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. First year 65,000 was raised, lets see if we can beat that this year.
